Tonight, July 28, 2010, former Beatle Paul McCartney plays the Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was most recently in the region last fall, on August 15, 2009, when he played Piedmont Park in Atlanta, Georgia. McCartney, of course, has tinkered a bit too much with the Beatles legacy in the last few decades, going so far as to re-release Let It Be and reorder the songwriting credits on the Fab Four’s old songs. But in the end, McCartney was a Beatle, and if you’ve not seen him live in concert, perhaps you ought to do so. At the Piedmont Park performance last year, it began to rain just as the gig was winding down, but the crowd didn’t care, because they were all singing “Hey Jude.” Can there be a more communal spirit at a show than that?
